This is my first read of Zacharias and I found his writing style pleasing and open. The book addresses the question of whether the threads of our lives are accidentally tangled or intentionally arranged. I am not sure if he completely answered that question, but he certainly offers valuable insight.
I have written many times (as have others) that life is lived forward, but understood backward. In a section called Hindsight, the author offers excellent insight. “God reinforces his call as we respond to his nod. If we were to see the final design in prospect, we would find ourselves acting on the basis of self-love and pragmatism—and then who would need faith? God often reinforces our faith after we trust Him, not before.”

In his ABCDs of a willful walk with the Lord, he puts forth: “Ask without pettiness, Being before doing, Convictions without compromise, and Discipline without dreariness.” And then this—“Hardly anyone likes the word discipline. It is both the blessing and the bane of our lives”.

Though he does not delve deeply, I learned a lot about other religions and more about the story of two of Abraham’s sons, Isaac and Ishmael, whose descendants are now wreaking havoc on the world.

This book is worth your time. I will read his other books.

I accidentally bought two of these and so I gave one to my daughter who was struggling
with God's direction in her life. This book ministered to her and helped her believe that God
indeed was working in her life though she couldn't see or feel Him doing so. It helped pull her
out of the doldrums. We recommend it.

This is a great book! Zacharias is able to take very complex theological ideas and apply them straight to your everyday life. He writes with a depth that is very unusual and, at the same time, puts things in a way that is very understandable.

He is thoroughly biblical and devoted to Jesus as Lord. He writes with great rationale explanations. Whether you are a seasoned follower of Jesus, just starting out, or very uncertain about it all, there's something in this book that you will find useful.

Ravi Zacharias never disappoints me because of his consistent approach to apologetics. His radio program "Just Thinking" is an apt descriptor. The only reason I didn't give this five stars is that, in this book, Dr. Zacharias, at times, seemed to use too much of a circular approach to certain points. Because of his intelligent approach to questions/topics/ideas, I have come to expect a need to reread what he has written…sometimes several times…but I am always happy with the use of that time. There were a few areas in this book where I did find myself getting impatient. Overall, I was glad I purchased and read this book. To me, the best of his books is Jesus Among Other Gods.

I am only three chapters in so far but this book is very highly insightful and extremely inspirational. I find myself going back through and rereading different parts of the chapters over and over again. Very highly advised to any Christian or anyone curious about God's design and plans in our lives. I starting reading this based on a friend's advice, as I was feeling stuck in walk with God almost like i had reached a point where i was trying to go forward but just felt like i was going nowhere and couldnt extend this has helped immensely has helped me to understand how God uses our hardships and good times to shape us. A very excellent read for anyone at any level with their walk with God.

While Ravi is often a very complex thinker, this book gives clear Biblical understanding so that even a young person in early teenage years can find it useful, along with a person who is looking for guidance much later on in life. God is active all around us. This book is an excellent example of the passion of this author to help individuals discern which of God's activities are meant for that person to follow.
Once again we have an insightful and highly intelligent argument from one of the foremost Christian apologetic thinkers. He will make you want to take up apologetics but at once make you realise how little you know. As a well travelled author his arguments are rich and come with support for places most of us have only heard about. I must say if you are used to Ravi as a speaker his books will not have the same powerhouse punch as his live talks, but they are thoughtful and learned and grapple with the great issues of what it is to be a human under the hand of a Sovereign God. I plan to read everything he has written eventually and some of the great minds from whom he draws his quotes and references. Ravi's thoughts have been a gift to me and I believe are a gift to anyone with ears to hear. If you are not sure about the Christian faith listen to what he says and see if it doesn't stir something deep in your soul.
