X-MEN
I have read a number of books on coping with depression (and combined this self-help approach with meds and therapy), but this is by far the most helpful self-help resource I have found. It covers much the same material as some others, but does so in a well-written, approachable and concise approach. I now have a baker's dozen of books on coping with depression, but this is the only one that is thoroughly marked and dog-eared. Check it out and compare it with others. You will pleased with what you find.

This is one of the most helpful books on managing and overcoming depression that I've come across. It's fast-paced and easy to read, and I really like the emphasis on finding practical ways to minimize the symptoms. The author has a very "take action" approach, which I've found to be very useful. I would definitely recommend it to individuals struggling with depression and to those who might have a friend or family member experiencing depression. (Every chapter includes a "take action" section written specifically for family members.)
