This workbook is designed as a companion to the book, Successful Suffering Part One, from fear to faith. These questions and reflections will challenge you to go deeper into God's word and in your own spiritual walk.

Fear is a state of thoughts and emotions that can be conquered. One can choose to do affirmations, yoga anything that will change your focus from fear to faith. We must realize fear is not real; it actually is an illusion of the mind. It is suffering and pent up emotions that need to be released. Sometimes we feel that we are shattered into a million pieces. On the other side of this experience awaits transformation and a sense of revival. Remember to breathe through the fear; you can change your perspective by understanding where the fear is coming from. Drink your tea slowly and reverently, as if it is the axis on which the world earth revolves – slowly, evenly, without rushing toward the future.

A weekday chapel service focusing on the transformation of fear into faith. Today's chapel focuses on the transition of fear to faith. As we begin worship this morning, hear these words of the Lord from Psalm 10. The LORD is king forever and ever; the nations shall perish from his land. O LORD, you will hear the desire of the meek; you will strengthen their heart, you will incline your ear to do justice for the orphan and the oppressed, so that those from earth may strike terror no more. Holy God, we also confess our lack of faith. We question our calling, our choices, or even you. We worry about tests and papers, but we also worry about our futures.

No matter how fearful the situation, Jesus wants us to trust Him. He may or may not deliver our loved ones or us from death. He wants you to move from fear to faith in Him. Jesus is the only One who can calm our fears, because He alone has conquered death. On another occasion He said, Let not your heart be troubled; believe in God, believe also in Me.

If our faith is strong, our fear will fade away. A strong faith allows us to trust in God and His providence. 4. Receive The Sacraments – One of the best ways to boost your faith is to frequently receive the sacraments of the Eucharist and Reconciliation. You will be flooded with graces that will increase your faith in ways you never thought possible. 5. Step Out In Faith – While this may sound like the craziest of all the steps, it’s often the most effective. When you say, OK Lord, I’m going to trust you and give Him the chance to deliver, you’ll often be rewarded with in increased faith. Eventually, you’ll find yourself trusting Him more and more.

Most of us are quick to tell someone who is hurting that this, too, shall pass, and that there is a purpose in their pain. It’s easy to say, but is it easy to live? Shelli Lynn Ross was an engineering student at the University of Illinois when she was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis. The one time basketball player, sprinter, aerobics teacher, and star student, went from being extremely independent and active, to being confined to a wheelchair, and needing daily assistance. But her faith in GOD, has kept her. She could have given in to her suffering, but instead Shelli earned her engineering degree and went on to get her master’s degree, and even write this book.

Suffering and trials are a part of life for both believers and nonbelievers alike. Believers have an advantage, however; they have the Word of God to get them through. God gives His children every tool necessary to benefit from the trials of life. Shelli never planned on a diagnosis of MS. But she also never could have predicted the many blessings she would receive from her suffering.

The key to benefiting from the bad is keeping our eyes on Him. If we depend on the flesh, we will be filled with fear. If we look to God and live by faith, we will be filled with strength and hope. Shelli’s path is not an easy one, but it has been necessary to teach her the purpose of her life. You may be going through similar pain, but weep not, for God is with you, and He will bring you through the darkness and into the light.
