This is published by the Concordia Publishing House - the publishing arm of the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod. It uses the New International Version (NIV) and it is very similar to the Zondervan's NIV Study Bible (used by permission of Zondervan). The annotated notes are similar to the Zondervan version. But where the Lutherans have a different interpretation or emphasis this is presented in the notes with a cross symbol to show the difference from the Reformed church. Also each book has its own introduction with the following sub-topics: God's Grace in 'book-name', Luther on 'book-name', Background, Author, Date, Place of Writing, Recipients, Themes and Message, Purpose and Emphases, Literary Features, Structure, and an Outline.

As Office Manger of the Lutheran Church of Our Savior, I frequently buy the Faith Alive Bible for our youth. They love this Bible because of the languge it is written in - something they can understand. In addition, I have given it to folks new to the faith who have benefited immensely. As with the youth, they find the text so understandable and the side notes so beneficial. It literally makes one's "Faith Come alive" - no matter what the age.

I used this as long as possible for my confirmation classes. We give bibles to every 3rd grader. So I bought this to give to an older kid who moved into our church. I have since moved to the harder to read ESV study Bible.

We use this Bible for our 3rd Grade Bible Class. We see this Bible as one that youth can use throughout their life. Although this updated edition is good, I liked the previous edition better. There seemed to be more in the previous edition to capture the hearts of young people.

Bible is great and was what I needed for the classroom. Disappointed on how much writing was on the inside cover and throughout. Would have been better if not used by a small child obviously.
