Alex can't wait to try out for the Junior High Olympic Team. But the trouble begins when she makes the team with a record-breaking jump-with a little help from her secret powers. I like this book because I read it around the time of the Olympics and it was exciting. I like how Alex has magic powers so she can do different stuff.

Go for the Gold! (The Secret World of Alex Mack by. Diana G. Gallagher. Go For the Gold wasn't at all what I was expecting. I'd watched the television program The Secret World of Alex Mack before back in junior high school and remember it being rather childish and silly for the most, part, so I was expecting this book to be the same. While it does get silly at times, in retrospect it had many hilarious moments where I was laughing out loud.

Like many concepts in the book world, "series" is a somewhat fluid and contested notion. A good rule of thumb is that series have a conventional name and are intentional creations, on the part of the author or publisher. Avoid series that cross authors, unless the authors were or became aware of the series identification (e. avoid lumping Jane Austen with her continuators).
When Alex is reformed back into a human after being turned into goo, she's not wearing any clothing. The writers quickly realized it probably wasn't a great idea to have a 12-year-old girl be naked in every episode, both for the character and the actress, so they gave Alex the ability to keep her clothes on. "I remember being mortified!" Larisa Oleynik said years later. I was just really embarrassed, being that I was 12 or 13 or whatever. I had this towel wrapped around me or something and was behind some boxes. I was so, so embarrassed. They did then end up changing.
Alex, Ray and Louis enroll in Driver's Ed. Alex learns a lesson in where garbage goes and vows to be more earth-friendly. While on a camping trip, Alex becomes a laughingstock until a dangerous situation gets her stuck up in a tree with the snobby popular girl, Kelly. Alex admires her rebellious Aunt Ashley but when things like car theft come up, she isn't sure what to think anymore.
