Convinced that the tasks he performs are the hardest of all, the boastful squirrel sets out to prove that he can easily do the work of the other creatures. He soon discovers that gathering pollen and crumbs, digging for earthworms, and spinning a web are more difficult than he imagined. When the new friends reach an agreement-that everyone's job is hard, but uniquely suited to the individual-they celebrate with a snack. The cartoonlike, anthropomorphic depictions of the animals are done in watercolor, gouache paint, and pen, and offer an amusing visual interpretation of the text . the book is wonderful for young readers, but also for a parent reading it to the child. The book arrived in excellent condition:) was very pleased with the purchase.

He sets out to prove to them how simple their labors are, and is stymied by each and every one of his subsequent endeavors. This ode to humility by the author of Daddy, Could I Have an Elephant? (p. 905) falls short, without any bite

This is a wry and witty parable that our daughter loved and we thought must have been written by someone with experience in the corporate world. It is definitely "with it" and will entertain the whole family.
