Robert Kraus (1925 – August 7, 2001) was an American children's author, cartoonist and publisher. Founder and publisher of Windmill Books, author and illustrator of award-winning children's books, Kraus began as a cartoonist and cover artist for The New Yorker. Most of his cover art reflected his romantic idea of the City (artists' studios and supplies, a chess club, a gypsy fortune teller, the Chinese New Year parade, the Coney Island roller coaster, a grand cafe, St. Patrick's Cathedral, a fancy dress ball) and he recorded his rural surroundings in Danbury, Connecticut, with its farmer's markets and county fairs.

Robert Kraus (June 21, 1925 – August 7, 2001) was an American children's author, cartoonist and publisher. Robert Kraus was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin in 1925. At age 10, he won a cartoon contest from his local paper the Milwaukee Journal.

I was aware I was buying a used book but the condition of the one that arrived was embarrassing. I was going to give this to a friend with two small children, as I think it's a great children's book, but I can't give this one to anyone. And the cover had a sticker on it that covered up part of the title which couldn't be removed without destroying the cover. I will like throw it away. This should not have been sold but it was extremely cheap.
one of my favorite childhood book sets! The one I got was in nearly perfect condition - unlike the image. only one little mark on one page found ; excellent for books from the 1970s
Precious stories!
My 3-year-old daughter loves this book set. It fits right into her little hands, and the stories are very charming. Too bad it's out of print and difficult to find! After a six-month search, though, I found it online at Amazon.com .
I was so excited to receive the Bunny Nutshell Books. However, the shipper did not pack the set of books carefully, or at all. They were placed in a padded shipping bag. That was okay. However, the set of miniature books were not secured inside. During shipping the books were tossed around inside the padded bag and many of the pages of my precious books were bent during shipping.
All that needed to be done to ensure their safe delivery would have been to wrap them in paper (preferably acid free) or bubble wrap, BUNNYS NUTSHELL LIBRARYThe Bunny Nutshell Library: the Silver Dandelion; the First Robin; Juniper; Springfellow's Paradethen taped closed and placed in the padded bag. That way the books would have stayed inside their little case. Instead they were out of the case and damaged in shipping. I kept them because I really wanted them. I had a set previously given to me by the author, Robert Kraus, o.b.m., when I worked for him at Simon and Schuster in the 1980's. My son enjoyed them so much. Our set was not in such good shape anymore. Well loved tho.
This is a chlidhood book which I have a copy of.
Apparently a few of my friends wish to have a copy
but cannot find it. It is rare to find children's
books that not cheaply made. Especially books in that particullar size: 2.5 by 3 inches. The little nutshell library concept is very appealing to younsters. When I was little I "felt" it was my library with "real" books. The size was ideal with the correct proportions; and yet unlike other miniture books the size was not a gimmick.

Each book wasn't abbrievated text of another
book. The books could of been normal
size and still sell. Each feature is a selling
point by themselves. The size of the book.
the quality of the paper and binding, artwork and prose is excellent. It is a joy to read the books
over and over again.
I know that hard bound books are costly, but am I willing to pay a premium price since the quality is so much better that what I see today.
I had these books as a little girl and now my 2 1/2 year old daughter is in love with them. I would love to find this set in print again so that I wouldn't have to worry about all the wear they are experiencing at her hands! What a great set of books - I don't understand why they are no longer published - I am sure they would fly off the shelves.
