Tales Of Trotter Street book. I checked this out of the library for me, because I miss reading these kinds of books to my kids, who are too big for story books. Obviously I haven't outgrown kids books! These are really quaint stories of real kids in neighborhoods like I remember where we all rode bikes and played together.

Shirley Hughes is my toddler's favorite author (and mine too) and this book does not disappoint. Montessori friendly and very inclusive of gender roles and skin tones.

I discovered the delightful books of Shirley Hughes several years ago when my granddaughter was 4 years old. We read all her books again and again. Several friends had told me that they were unfamiliar with the books of this English author, but then went on to take them from the library to read to their children and grandchildren.

The Tales of Trotter Street is one of our favorites.

Shirley Hughes's books are generally terrific. This is a great way to buy, since a collection is cheaper than the individual books, though the price is quite high in US $, being a British edition.

We discovered Hughes while living "down under" where she is better known thanks to Australia's strong ties to Britain. Also highly recommend her poems such as found in _The Nursery Collection_. Wonderful, rich illustrations; warm, loving families.
