I love Kiki-her unsentimental bravado is so wonderfully childlike. I give her my blanket (sorry-blankie) approval. Other publishers and imprints I’ve worked with include: Harcourt, Candlewick Press, Cartwheel, Orchard, Dutton, Little, Brown/Tingley. Other titles I’ve written and illustrated: Altoona Baboona, Otis, Nutmeg & Barley + more. The concept sounds absurd, but Wheeler and Bynum succeed in creating an appealing if clueless lonely porcupine who’s looking for love in all the wrong places.

This is a good book for very young children. It is written in very short sentences with the central idea very easy for young toddlers to grasp. Kiki loves her blankie (what toddler doesn't?), she loses her blankie (the end of the world!), she gets her blankie back (all is well). If your child is over about age 3 or 4, this might be a little simplistic and short but it is still a nice, sweet story.

The board book version of this book is missing several pages found in the hard cover version. The missing pages are the ones where Kiki imagines how she might recover her blanket from the crocodile, but all her scenarios require her to have the blanket already.

In the board book, she jumps straight into recusing the blanket without any of the imagination. It's a rather sudden, startling jump that rings hollow once you've seen the complete version.

On the upside, the board book version has a nice faux-velvet spine.

Kiki's Blanket is a sweet short story about an audacious little monkey and the adventures she has with her blanket. I bought this book for my sister and niece to enjoy; anyone with a young child in their life who adores their blanket can relate to this lighthearted story. Watch as your child's face lights up as you read this story over and over to them!

Kiki was a little monkey with a cute button nose, an impish smile and a very special blue blankie with white polka-dots. Everyone knows that blankies are very special things and they have a lot of uses. Kiki looks like a movie star when she puts on her sunnies and lies on it at the beach. She even wraps it around her body when she puts on her red goggles and dives. A couple of stones and two clothespins are just dandy for making a tent. Everyone knows that you need a napkin when you sit at a picnic table chomping on watermelon. Ssssspit the pips at the dragonfly. Nope, not one drip drop on that blankie!

Kiki will turn up that cute button nose if you offer her a dress with flowers on it. NOPE . . . the blankie will do. Did you know that you can even use it as a bandana and pretend to be a pirate? True, but you must make sure you have a wooden sword, a bottle to stick a message in and an eye patch. Kiki can be all sorts of things with her blankie. She can be a cowboy, a superhero, a sailor . . . oh, no Kiki's mouth is so wide you can see her tonsils. "MY BLANKIE IS GONE!" It flew away when she was a sailor. She is lost without her blankie. Can you help her find it?

If your child has a blankie and it turns up missing, you know that it is simply catastrophic. This tale is absolutely adorable and the artwork, which compliments it perfectly, is vibrant and cheerful. I liked the imaginative and positive storyline and can appreciate the importance Kiki places on her blankie. I for one walked door to door asking after a lost Glow Worm and if you are a household that has a blankie . . . well, I really do think you need to ask Kiki and her special blankie into your home!

We borrowed this book from the library for my 22 month old son. After we read it the first time, he insisted on us reading it over and over again.

The book is a short story about Kiki and how she makes believe with her blankie. Each page has one sentence which makes it a quick read (nice before bed time).

I think one reason why my son liked the book so much is that Kiki's name is easy for any toddler to say. He also knows monkey and crocodile and thus the animals in the book that it made it fun for him to point them out.
This is a beautifully illustrated story that reaches out to kids and parents alike. Rich in magnificent water-colors that spark any child's imagination and can become starting platforms for hours of imaginative play. It's a great read for a toddler and a fun short story for an older child with plenty of short easy sentences and a surprise ending that will keep them coming back. We love reading it together and can't wait for more adventures of this super monkey!
