Uniform Title: Sarah en haar spookjes.

Sarah's Little Ghosts Hardcover – Bargain Price, October 15, 2007. by. Thierry Robberecht (Author). Find all the books, read about the author, and more. Thierry Robberecht and Philippe Goossens have created 15 books together, including three other books about Sam, and their work has been published in 13 countries. They both live in Brussels. This was a bargain bin book, and to be honest, I'm not that thrilled with it. I think the concept is a little forced. It teaches about the guilt you feel when you tell lies and how much better it is to tell the truth. The "ghosts" represent the guilt.

by Thierry Robberecht & illustrated by Philippe Goossens. Robberecht’s ingenious take on a guilty conscience manifests itself as little haranguing poltergeists that emerge with each fib from Sarah as she scrambles to cover up her mistake. Rather than making them menacing, Goossens creates benign little figures to populate the pages, who multiply exponentially along with Sarah’s mistruths. His oil paintings are a balance of levity and sincerity that invite young readers to sympathize with Sarah’s consternation. Ultimately, Sarah recognizes the importance of honesty and all is resolved.

A little ghost pops out, too! And for every new lie Sarah tells, another ghost appears. There seems to be only one way to get rid of them, but which is scarier: living in your own haunted house, or telling the truth?

This was a bargain bin book, and to be honest, I'm not that thrilled with it. I think the concept is a little forced. But my daughter likes it. Probably because it's about a girl named Sarah and that's her name.

I am a school guidance counselor. This is an excellent book for teaching about honesty. The way the book depicts ghosts as the guilt a child feels when lying is amazing. I read this with 1st graders and kindergarteners and it was perfect. Would probably be good for ages 4-7.
