Thirty meticulous etchings form a puzzle picture book in which seven piglet people build an elaborate tree house. The pictures also refer to objects and activities with appropriate initials (photographs, nap, music). The etchings are splendidly designed, executed and reproduced. Much of the detail, including a plausible Rube Goldberg sawmill and windmill, is entrancing; the windmill simultaneously works pump; bellows, and washing machine agitator. The multistoried tree house is the ne plus ultra of tree houses.

This is the best book! It is great for the child that loves construction and details. It is as enjoyable for the adult as it is for the child. Kindergarten age is a perfect time to introduce this book to the learner. Some younger children may be able to do it. Our daughter gave it to our grandson's K class for his birthday gift to the class library. He got to show all his classmates a book he loves.
I owned this book as a child and loved it so much that I saved it for my own children. I have also bought it to give as a gift
I love, love, love this book. This was my first Geisert book -- and now, I have quite a little collection! Every time I look at the pages, I see something new. The pigs are adorable and I love the clever drawings. Some pages will really get you stumped -- where IS that last pig hiding? Arthur Geisert has a gift for keeping people (young and old alike) busy with his creative drawings and stories. Buy this! You won't regret it!
A wonderful way to challenge observational skills with big and small letters in all parts of the drawing and sometimes only tiny parts of the pigs. With the preceding and following letters in each picture it puts the alphabet in sequence. Fun for adults as well.
no problem with book.
