Another delightful book by William Steig! I enjoyed sharing this one with my students, and I've kept a personal copy of it after all these years. Great companion to my original 1970's "CDB?", which I had shared with everyone I knew (I was an adult at the time). "CDC?" is fun also, and I'll be sharing both versions with friends and family; especially my niece, who is now a teacher, and she can share with her students.
We want our children to be thinkers. Here is a book that does that. It uses the alphabet letters to form associated words opening up the mind to all the possibilities. I taught at risk students at a poverty school. One of the number one items I used to show them how wonderfully made their brain was. Once they caught on I truly can say they viewed learning entirely differently and started making up their own word play.
Always a favorite
Great follow-up to the original!
Formatted like a children's picture book with drawings more appealing to adults, I think. Oh, such fun to figure out the coded captions under each drawing. I have enjoyed this book over and over for decades and have given many copies as gifts! Be sure to check out other books by the late, great William Steig.
How could anyone not laugh at this silly sentences. Thank goodness there's a "key" in the back but we did our utmost to solve the sentences on our own. Excellent! Kids AND adults LOVE IT
My daughter and I discovered this book when she was eight years old. We had to pull our car over to read it because we were laughing so hard. She is now 35, and I couldn't believe it when I found it through Amazon. I ordered 6 copies and have found them to be great gifts for any age.
Steig's sequel to CDB is just as clever. I love his humor.
