This book is a great intro to the stock market for those new to the game. I also highly recommend reading Mr. Sincere's book 'Understanding Options', but 'Understanding Stocks' should be read first. Options, which derive from the underlying stock, are the best way for the average person to build real wealth quickly. But they require an understanding of how the stock market works in order to be successful. Mr. Sincere's books do a great job in this regard, with clear, easy to understand explanations of all the relevant concepts. I also highly recommend the works of Kevin M. O'Brien for developing a consistent strategy of winning results in options trading.

Sincere introduces the stock market in a clear simple manner. It's one of the best books a novice investor can read. The step-by-step approach clarifies the seemingly complicated practices that the TV Talking Heads like to argue about. Sincere shows that it's not complicated, but that if you will devote the time to learning and practice, you can learn to trade profitably. I had taken a course and read many other works before this, but found that this one really put all the variants into a clear prospective.

I am currently thinking of trading mostly to create my own portfolio. I found this book to be easily understood and found alot of useful knowledge. Clearly pointed out pitfalls a trader can make i.e. understanding the misinformation that can be put out by companies, media, etc..and to see it as possible hype. It was enough information to point me in the right direction. With that said I realize there is alot more I need to learn out there before I start trading, however, I feel this is a great book to start for those who do not understand the abbrevations found on stock screeners.
