Juggling Elephants book. There he has a surprising conversation with a wise ringmaster. He leaves with a simple but powerful lesson: Trying to get everything done is like juggling elephants - impossible. So Mark begins to think about his work, family, and personal life the way a ringmaster thinks about the many acts in a three-ring circus. He discovers that managing his various acts can be fun and easy once he changes his attitude and follows his new friend?s ongoing guidance.

A very useful, lighthearted way to balance the most important things in your work and lifes circus. author of "Who Moved My Cheese?" If your life is so hectic it feels like a three-ring circus, read this book. It will teach you how to set priorities, relax, and enjoy the show! Ken Blanchard, coauthor of "The One Minute Manager" and "The On-Time, On-Target Manager" "Juggling Elephants" is a fresh approach to becoming the master of your life. Juggling Elephants is another VERY short story book on organizing your life and becoming more effective, another in the genre that we've come to associate with Ken Blanchard, who has given it his blessing. This story, another collaboration of authors, is worth listening to several times spaced out over a long time period but certainly, in my opinion, not sufficient by itself to become life-changing.

My mentoring Circle will discuss this book using the Ring tools we found online as well as a list of discussion questions that were forwarded by the author. I expect practice will help prioritize tasks but the concept of separation of work, relationships and self is a good way to juggle it all. ( ) Madison Fairbanks Feb 18, 2018. Ah, business training parables. I have read too many of them. Juggling Elephants follows this same format. We are told the story of a man who takes his daughter to the circus even though he is overwhelmed with everything in his life pressing down on him. He has so much to do, he feels guilt for taking time to take his daughter out for the evening, but knows he should be spending more time with her. As "luck" would have it, he ends up sitting next to a ringmaster from another circus, there to check out how a friend's troupe is doing.

Juggling Elephants tells a simple but profound story about a universal problem-too much to do, too many priorities, too much stress, too little time. If your life has gotten as crazy as a three-ring circus, this book will really help you get your priorities straight. Genres: Business & Economics . Career Development. What do you do when your life feels as busy as a three-ring circus? Juggling Elephants tells a simple but profound story about one man with a universal problem. Mark has too much to do, too many priorities, too much stress, and too little time. As he struggles to balance his many responsibilities without cracking under the pressure, Mark takes a break to attend the circus with his family. There he has a surprising conversation with a wise ringmaster. He leaves with a simple but powerful lesson: Trying to get everything done is like juggling elephants -- impossible. So Mark begins to think about his work, family, and personal life the way a ringmaster thinks about the many acts in a three-ring circus. He discovers that managing his various acts can be fun and easy once he changes his attitude and follows his new friend's ongoing guidance. Mark soon realizes:  • If you keep trying to juggle elephants, no one, including you, will be thrilled with your performance. • A ringmaster cannot be in all three rings at once. • The key to the success of a circus is having quality acts in all three rings. • Intermission is an essential part of any good circus. Juggling Elephants is a wonderfully lighthearted guide for everyone who feels like they're about to be squashed. It will help you better focus your time and energy, so you'll be able to enjoy more of the things that are important to you. Above all, it will teach you how to run your circus, instead of letting the circus run you.

Juggling Elephants by Jones Loflin and Todd Musig
An Easier Way to Get your Most Important Things Done -Now!

Told in the format of a story from within the three rings of a Circus, this business self-help book may have an impact if time is spent on introspective tasks. Some good questions to ask yourself when going through your own priority list.
Includes a couple of good examples in the first half but got a little vague in the last third, specifically about reviewing the “act”.

My mentoring Circle will discuss this book using the Ring tools we found online as well as a list of discussion questions that were forwarded by the author.
I expect practice will help prioritize tasks but the concept of separation of work, relationships and self is a good way to juggle it all.

Great little book about putting everything in your life into perspective. Oddly enough, I read the book last night and this morning ended up describing the methods to both my sons this morning. They were overwhelmed and complaining about all the crazy things going on, and the whole idea of changing yourself into the "ringmaster" resonated with both of them. The authors highlight the main ideas or concepts, which are all pretty much common sense, but useful to remember when we get swept up the the swirling circus of our lives. This book could be a lifeline to anyone who feels life spiraling out of control, and if they use the tools to focus, place the players to their best advantage and not get caught up in the impossible, it may find themselves sitting back and enjoying the show. Juggling Elephants is a crash course in finding your center and then strengthening it by taking command.

Jones Loflin and Todd Musig use a simple story about the circus to help us learn time management and life balance. Life is like a 3-Ring Circus, they say. One ring is your business, one ring is your relationships, and one ring is your self care. Rather than try to be in more than one ring at once (at your child's soccer game--relationship ring--while checking email and texting your co-workers--business ring), we should focus on one ring at a time and give it our full attention. There is no shortage of things we could be doing, so each thing we choose to do must serve a purpose in our overall plan. It is also important to remember the self-care ring, because if you fail to take time to renew yourself the other two rings will suffer. The storybook format makes it easy to read in about an hour.

The idea in the book is good. The "cute" little story that intertwines the self-help inforamation I could have done without. I received decent advice from the book, so 3 stars. I wouldn't recommend to a co-worker, as it reads like a 6th grade Judy Blume book.

If you get a chance to attend the classroom, this book will really be a help to retain the information. If you can't get the training, the book explains how to keep people paying attention to what you want them to while you're getting other tasks ready. A big set of ideas to better help strategic management of an organization.

This book is an easy read and really allows you to focus on what things should be important in your life. There has to be balance in what you are doing and this book does a nice job using the three rings of the circus to compare how we should be balancing and managing our time between personal and work.
This book has many helpful tips on how to organize your life when you feel overwhelmed as well as a great story that will help you remember everything important.
