Bethenny Frankel moves beyond the kitchen to provide more of her good-sense advice for achieving happiness and success in all aspects of life more s, and made her a nationally bestselling author and the star of her own Bravo show Bethenny Ever After.

Bethenny Frankel's no-nonsense, tell-it-like-it-is personality won over countless fans, and made her a nationally bestselling author and the star of her own hit Bravo show Bethenny Getting Married? Now Bethenny opens up and shares the obstacles she overcame and the great success she has enjoyed while discovering how to approach life from “A Place of Yes.” Bethenny’s path was not always clear as she overcame a difficult childhood, failed relationships, entrepreneurial efforts that never quite got off the ground, and lifelong money struggles. To deal with these challenges, Bethenny developed ten rules for pursuing her goals with authenticity and drive, including:

* Find your truth: Dig deep inside and figure out what is authentic for you, not anybody else.

* Act on it: You don’t have to have a master plan. But unless you do something, you’ve done nothing.

* Everything's your business: Treat every job, person, and experience as if it could lead to your next big opportunity.

* Own it: If you do it, say it, think it—then own it. Stand up for yourself and fully acknowledge who you really are.

Each rule is illustrated with compelling, sometimes funny, sometimes outrageous examples that are pure Bethenny. It’s easy to say no, to say “I can’t,” to expect the worst, and to doubt yourself. But your life can be better than “not bad” or “good enough.” It can be amazing. And by putting Bethenny’s rules together, you can use them to be more successful, more fulfilled, healthier, and happier than ever before.

Firstly, I’d like to state that I do NOT recommend the audio version of this book even though or especially because I listened to it. In a minute I’ll tell why. I rented this audio book at the library, even though I had no clue who Bethenny Frankel is. I don’t watch reality TV shows.

The only reason why I grabbed the audio book was because it looked more interesting than other choices I had on that particular day. The cover said “bestseller”; I needed an audio book for my visit at the gym. As planned, I began listen to the first CD while doing cardio. I absolutely detested the introduction. It was all, “I am …”, “I do…”, “I know…”, “I get…”, “I am not the kind of person…” – I thought, “OK, we get it, YOU are the most important person in the universe and you want us to understand that.”

If I would not have committed myself to doing an hour of cardio, I would have put the book away and that would have been it. The intro is about the most egoistical intro I have ever heard. Mrs. Frankel might want to read intros by other famous people, who manage to tell their story without implying “I am the greatest” in every other sentence. Some humbleness can be appealing.

But, as things went at the gym, I kept on listening; surprisingly this book got better rapidly. I listened to Mrs. Frankel’s childhood stories, they were riveting. I began to see her as a human person instead of a self centered egoist.

I am not sure who speaks the audio edition but with exception of the annoying introduction it is well spoken, passionately and riveting.

By chapter 4 “Everything’s Your Business: Finding my Stride As an Entrepreneur” I was a fan; I bought a paperback copy at Amazon.

I did and still do think that many parts of Mrs. Frankel’s book are excellent. In particular the chapter “All Roads lead to Rome.” Yes, they do.

“…All roads lead to Rome means that as long you are working hard and doing your best – when you are following your truth, acting on it, and making everything your business s – then everything you do will eventually get you where you want to go – or someplace even better. You don’t need to know how it will happen….”

At this point I decided to look up Bethenny Frankel on the Internet and WHOOPS – there it was.

“Bethenny Frankel on Her Marriage: 'I Was Making a Decision Out of Fear… In the latest chapter of the never ending divorce saga between Bethenny Frankel and her estranged husband Jason Hoppy, the reality star told fans last week that she didn't follow her own mantra of "going with her gut" when making her decision to wed Hoppy in 2010….” (quoting People’s magazine)

“R e a l l y ? ? ?”

After I had listened to the passionate words,
“When finally my inner voice finally spoke up and helped me to find the love I’d been seeking, it was such a revelation – about love and about me…”

I guess it was more about ME, than about love.

“… I don’t need Jason’s money, but I do need his love….”

Okay, we heard it.

This is why I do not recommend the audio edition. Bethenny's love story with Jason (Hoppy) is told so passionately and with such an undertone of honesty that readers like me, who are nor familiar the love lives of reality stars, must be bewildered when they find out that Jason is history, too. I also don’t understand why this book is not being updated (Is the publisher doing anything?)

I believe it is a good book. (Sadly, by now, it's not a true book.) Mrs. Frankel writes a very entertaining style and offers interesting and entertaining stories to illustrate her 10 rules.

However, now knowing that her evolution, moving from early mistakes to true love, happened to be another mistake, I think the book deserves a re-edit. The problem is that Mrs. Frankel did not simply mention her marriage, kind of as a side story, no, Bethenny Frankel described her relationship with Mr. Hoppy as an evolution, a learning process of seeking the right relationship and “making it happen”, an evolution so important that it is part of her 10 rules.

Obviously, it’s not.

I purchase this book with an expectation of a self-help format. In the beginning of the book, she states this is not a biography. It is, however, just that. I am very disappointed. I did not purchase this book to solely read about her life.
An odd attempt to be an upbeat book. Fairly well written. Frankel attempts to teach the power of positive thinking in life and in our darkest hours - which might serve as a quick fix for those struggling with typical life events. But even Frankel to date is having a hard time finding "A Place of Yes".
I was hesitant to read this book at first, as I don't watch 'The Real Housewives' series. But a friend told me about it, and it stuck in my mind until I finally got the ebook. This was not at all what I was expecting. It felt very real and from the heart right from the start. I liked how she even told how she messed up at certain points of her life, and what she learned from it. A very down-to-earth look at how you can get to where you want by being true to yourself and staying focused on what matters in your life. I would definitely recommend it (and already have to several friends) as a guide to help change your life.
I have just finished reading 'A Place of Yes' by Bethenny Frankel. Upon completion, I can say I really enjoyed finding out more about Bethenny's past and being able to understand where she came from and how she got to where she is now. However, I think it would have been better if Bethenny had just called this 'My Life - so far' and written this book as an autobiography instead of trying to make it a 'self help' book which doesn't really work.
The idea of '10 rules to live your life by' when reading comes across a bit like a lecture and I did end up actually missing those pages out, just reading the first words in each paragraph until I got back to Bethenny's story. I didn't enjoy the idea that she would tell me how to live my life for success by following her Rules. As a fifty-six year old woman with adult children I can tell Bethenny she has still far to go and lots to learn. But, I am happy for her.
She is admirable. Her honesty, her truth, her drive and ambition and 'give it a go' attitude are great! I loved reading about all the bits that were missing in the Housewives TV reality show and this book did indeed fill in the blanks. I admire her and I am glad to know more about her. The book is very easy to read, it is entertaining, humorous, very honest and written in a conversation style which is enjoyable. It's clear to me that she wrote this at a time in her life when she could look back at her past and see in retrospect, where she got it right and wrong. If only this idea of 'Rules' were not part of the biography it would have been even better to read.
I am glad I bought it, glad I read it and look forward to reading her next book in 20 years time when she will know so much more than she does now...and I wish her lots of happiness and thank her for letting us, the reader, know her life.

I loved this book, it was one of the best books I have read! I can relate to Bethenny in some ways and this just shows you that you can turn things around! A Place of Yes is a great place to be! This was her first book that I have read although I have watched all her shows and loved her personality on them. It is always nice to see someone in the public eye tell it like it is and really put themselves out there. It just makes it more real and you can truly connect with the writer. Great job Bethenny!
This book was written during a high point in her life, so that affected her writing. I'm a fan of her but not of this book. Everyone can't just pop back. I appreciate her sharing her struggles as a child to give a picture of where she came from but as I said she was newly married and pregnant when this was written...so of course everything is positive.
