Needless to say, Luther Campbell is a hero of mine and should be an inspiration to DIY minded entrepreneurial artists and free speech advocates worldwide. good one luke! The book also contains transcripts from his supreme court obscenity trail that are totally aw This book gains notoriety as the only full length book that I have read completely while I was on the toilet (lots of trips!)  . The book also contains transcripts from his supreme court obscenity trail that are totally awesome. The lengthy interview at the end of the book where Luke gives his opinions on about everything is really good also.

Rather than simply rehash the glory days of 2 Live Crew (tales from that era can be found in Campbell’s 1992 book, As Nasty as They Wanna Be: The Uncensored Story of Luther Campbell of The 2 Live Crew), The Book of Luke takes a more socially conscious approach. Featuring cover blurbs from African-American icons such as Bobby Seale and Dr. John Carlos, the book doubles as an alternate history of the black experience in Miami, detailing the prejudices that followed Campbell growing up, first in Overtown, before urban renewal channeled the African-American community into the segregated Liberty.

5 stars.

Lil wayne and others are freely to express himself freesom of speech because of luke. He was abandoned by his peers and faught against right wing groups(the cherry picked luther to establish their hidden agenda and did nothing for the inner city kids) as well as political and music executives ganged on him. Guess what? He win the fight.
His contribution to football mentorship and day programs and I had no idea artists and football players he help guide.

He knew it was time to fall back from the party scene. Did I mention that his musix was for adults and was involve in "parental sticker" fiasco... A scene that gave avenue to dancers to make money because it became hip for strip clubs and hip hop merged.

His contribition to politics , opening doors for souther rappers, dj's, producers you are listening today is because Luke broke the door wide open. Also he made entrepreneurship in hip hop a way to go and the business aspects of lixensing and owning your own catalog. Luke's book gives you a first hand look into his gritty upbringing and shun from society to revealing a side of warm hearted giving man that the media don't show you.

I want to thank the well known pop artists (in the book) although were not rappers, but understood the bigger picture of freedom and rights of speech as well as targeting a minority within that process.

He needs to make a movie.
