by Berke Breathed (Author). Book 7 of 9 in the Bloom County Series. Only Berkeley Breathed could come up with a title like "Night of the Mary Kay Commandos Featuring Smell O-Toons. This was a great collection of cartoons and I loved the "Smell O-Toons" tie in. Berkeley Breathed is an excellent artist and has an excellent sense of humor. This is a a wonderful work.
A Bloom County collection featuring the Mary Kay Commandos who invade Bloom County and Opus, Milo and Steve Dallas treat them with their usual instinctive aplomb. A collection of the best daily and Sunday strips from the past year plus, in a peel-away insert, the aromatic fragrance Smell-O-Toons. Manufacturer: Little Brown & Co (P) Release date: 1 August 1989 ISBN-10 : 0316107387 ISBN-13: 9780316107389. Which is interesting, considering that it's very late in the run of the series, and for the most part, the earlier strips are funnier. But this one's the exception to that rule; most of the political satire here is as relevant today as it was 16-17 years ago, and just as funny. Great Book - helped persuade Mary Kay to stop testing! In the first volume the 1988 election sees Bill the Cat and Opus the penguin (not surprisingly) beaten at the polls, while steps are taken to break failed candidate Opus's mom out of the headquarters of Mary Kay Cosmetics, where she is in peril of being used for cosmetic testing. While the overall effect of the book is humorous, Breathed concludes with a plea for readers to adopt pets at their local animal shelters.
