The Art of Drawing book. Though there are many exercises that take patience when you have to repeat them over and The Art of Drawing by Willy Pogany is a great book that’s quite similar to an art course you might take at a university. It’s not overly complicated, which makes it easy for even the most basic of beginners to understand.

The Art of Drawing provides a complete drawing system and includes hundreds of illustrations. This book is a true classic of how to draw the human figure - mostly beautiful classic looking females. When I say classic, by that I mean the classical style of Hollywood cartoons and comics from the 1920s till 1960s. The way Pogani sketches his figures is very easy to learn, again the classical way to do such.

i really liked this book...so pretty and so classy and so
mr Willy explains many things that helped me in my drawing and understanding of art
i enjoyed the flipping through this book

mr Willy is a great Master in Drawing
seeing his drawing is a breath taking moments indeed
his drawing filled you with a bizarre feelings

the printingof the book is excellent and on a white papers [which i like so much]
of course the drawing is so much old hence there's a lot of black smearing through the book
but this is not the Publisher's fault, it's just mr Willy died in 1955
and the first Publishing of the book was in 1972...so you do the math

The artist is very good. The descriptions are a bit sparse but concise. Lots of examples. What this artist seems to emphasize is the flow and the subtlety of human anatomy. Something which has been lost in the modern art world. So it's refreshing to see this demonstrated in the 21st century. Now I totally disagree what another reviewer says about learning art, e.g. Betty Edwards method verse classic. Classic is an advanced form of what Betty Edwards teaches which assumes you've already demostrated that you can 'see'. Willy Pogany goes well beyond just drawing what you see. This comes with much experience.

The book dwelled more on the human form, than it did on actual drawing. kind of disappointed, but for the price, it's not a big deal either. I'm sure I will be using some of the information in the book.

Like many, Willy Pogani is my one of my favorite artist ever. This book is a true classic of how to draw the human figure - mostly beautiful classic looking females. The way Pogani sketches his figures is very easy to learn, again the classical way to do such. If you were a beginner? this book would help you a lot, if not, the least you could do, is to add this book to your collection.

This book is not an exhaustive study into all there is to know about drawing but it's a terrific book none the less. Pogany's approach is to visually explain how to understand basic perspective and human anatomy. There is very little writing. It is a visual lesson book. He includes many of his own terrific sketches to study, or copy. One could learn to be a great draftsman with this book alone. It's a book that one can learn best from, by just copying his Pogany's work. If you like learning that way, it's a good book. Be sure to buy a bunch of paper and some charcoal and get learning.
